A little reflection

In the calm working days between Christmas and New Year I was reflecting on the last with 12 months and the challenges that lay ahead. I was moaning about the amount of time and energy I had spent prompting, chasing and even threatening people in order to get them to do what needed to be done. Life would be so much easier if people just did what I asked them to do. To which a wiser colleague replied,  “history records that battle fields are littered with the mistakes of generals who refused to listen, who ignored advice and who pushed on regardless.” I was a little taken a back I had expected him to agree and offer some personal experience, this felt like criticism. After all aren’t determination and single mindedness characteristics of successful leaders?

So how do you decide who to listen to and when to scrap the plan and think again? www.blairmcpherson.co.uk
